2025 Benefits Changes

Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS) open enrollment for 2025 ended on Friday, Nov. 1, 2024. Any changes you made during open enrollment will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2025.

If you didn’t do anything during open enrollment, your current benefits will continue in 2025, except flexible spending accounts (FSA). If you wanted a health care or dependent care FSA for 2025, you needed to enroll in one during open enrollment. FSAs don’t carry over year to year.

Employees who were hired or newly eligible for benefits Oct. 16 – Nov. 30, 2024

The benefits plan year is Jan. 1 – Dec. 31. If you’re hired or newly eligible for benefits between Oct. 16 and Nov. 30, you must actively enroll in benefits or waive coverage for the rest of the 2024 and then actively enroll in benefits for 2025.

If you don’t enroll in or waive coverage for 2024, you won’t be able to enroll in coverage until the next open enrollment period, unless you have a qualifying life event.

Submit supporting documentation for dependents by Nov. 30

If you enroll dependents, you may be asked to provide supporting documentation. If you receive this request, you must provide the documentation by Saturday, Nov. 30. If you don’t, your dependents won’t have coverage in 2025.

What’s New for 2025

Contribution Changes

Johns Hopkins Health System pays most of the cost of your medical, dental and vision insurance, and 100% of your short-term disability and basic life insurance.

To harmonize benefits across the health system, we are changing employee contributions for our medical, dental and vision plans. These necessary changes will help us align contribution structures across the health system and stay competitive in the market while being equitable.
